The scripture, "Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6) has been use in many different contexts. I believe God has placed very specific gifts and values in my children. It is for me, the parent, to pray for these gifts and values to be shown to not only my children themselves, but to me also. I don't need to plan their lives for them, God's already done that. But, if I do see the gifts they possess that are given specifically from God, it's my job to encourage, and direct them based on His calling. This will be most easiest teaching them at home. Liam and Annabelle can learn at their pace, and I know they are both going to need very different teaching techniques. They are both brilliant (as every mother says about her kids), and I want to harvest their gifts based on their inclinations. I want to give them access to learn as much as they want about any subject or topic. I want there to truly be no limits. Some structure, yes. But if it takes them a whole year to learn about....botany, or maybe a president, or cultures, or music, or anything, let them go as far as they want....no limit. Their pace.
I say all this....and in three years may have very well already enrolled them into the elementary school down the street the previous year. But...let's give it a go! They are still so young of children, and I'm still so young at being a mother. I have a lot to learn still, and I'm hoping I can learn much from them in the process of my own journey.
So....let's get started then!
